THE 2026 OFFER CHECK

Online offers in 2026: what to check before you click

AI can help you discover products. It can also make fake ads and reviews look convincing. Before an offer gets your attention—or your money—check the seller, the total cost and what happens to your data.

Published · Based on the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security’s October 2026 guidance.

Mystery gift box with a question mark

A surprising offer is not proof of a reward. Read the terms first.

AI shopping assistants: useful, not a trust guarantee

Some tools recommend products or make purchases on your behalf. Their suggestions may use outdated, incomplete or manipulated information. Verify unfamiliar sellers yourself and review any purchase before approving it. Avoid sharing financial details with a tool unless you understand how it handles them.

Polished ads and reviews can be misleading

AI can generate product descriptions, reviews and customer-service conversations. Good grammar, a familiar logo or a professional design does not prove legitimacy. Search for independent feedback outside the seller’s website and look for recurring complaints rather than trusting one enthusiastic testimonial.

Compare the full cost, not just the headline

Check shipping, extra charges, return conditions and any ongoing subscription. Be cautious when a seller pressures you to act immediately or asks you to pay outside the official checkout using gift cards or cryptocurrency. Payment protections vary: check what your provider offers.

Five checks before exploring an offer

  1. Check the address. Look for misspelled domains and follow browser security warnings. HTTPS encrypts a connection; it does not prove a seller is honest.
  2. Identify the provider. Find clear contact information and independently check its reputation.
  3. Read the conditions. Confirm location restrictions, eligibility, total cost and cancellation or refund terms.
  4. Limit your data. Only provide information needed for the action you have chosen.
  5. Pause under pressure. A countdown, prize claim or “last chance” message is not a reason to skip verification.

What this means for Mystery Box Challenge

This site links to third-party offers. It does not run a prize draw or guarantee rewards, income or eligibility. Discover Now opens an external provider’s page; that provider sets the conditions. This guide is general information, not an endorsement or a safety certification of any linked offer.
